Monterey and Big Sur, CA – May 2008

In early May we took a motor home trip north from Oxnard up the California coast to Big Sur, Monterey, CA and visited friends in Burlingame, near San Francisco. We spent the first two nights at a lovely campground near Big Sur where we celebrated our 30^th wedding anniversary. From there we stopped at the Monterey airport where we rented a car and then drove to a campground at the town of Marina, just north of Monterey. We used the rental car to drive to Burlingame for the day to visit our friends Eva and John. At this point Lance began to feel rather sick and was coughing violently. After we returned to Marina, our son-in-law Paul, who was on a business trip in San Francisco, came to stay with us in the motor home. The next day we toured the Monterey Peninsula and the Seventeen Mile Drive. Lance was become increasingly sick and we left Monterey earlier than planned with Dahlia driving the motor home all the way back home. That evening Lance went to the hospital and was diagnosed with pneumonia, was given antibiotics, and finally recovered after two weeks. It wasn't our best trip but it was nice to be able to vist with Paul.
