Cape Cod, MA and New York City, 16-24 June, 2009

After an event packed week in Baltimore we flew to Boston and drove to Woods Hole, MA to visit our friends Bill and Nachama Ross. They spend their summers doing Neuroscience research in a rented laboratory at Woods Hole while enjoying the relaxed and stimulating environment that area has to offer. After coming there for some 30 years they bought a lovely comfortable summer home there complete with a hammock in the front yard... While there we got a crash course from Bill about their research on Rat Brains. Fascinating stuff! . Together we spent a couple of lovely days touring the Cape Cod National Seashore, the Woods Hole Marine Reseach facilities and the harbor, took a short bike ride on a beautiful bike path and enjoyed good seafood and good stimulating company with old friends.
From Boston it was on to New York City where we stayed at the Upper East Side apartment of Lance's brother Dave and his wife Kathy. Coincidentally our friends Shelly and Arnold were in town visiting their family so we got to randezvous with them a couple times took walks, had coffee and saw some art. The weather was cool and a bit drizzly most of the time, with a few sunny breaks. We managed to see a wonderful Pre-Expressionist painting exhibit (The Brucke at the "Neue Gallerie") MOMA and Time's square before Lance became sick and had to spend Father's day at the hospital. Luckily the treatment was effective and by Wed. he was feeling well enough to fly to Berlin, on schedule. It was wonderful to have Dave there with the right diagnosis and advice, which helped us beat the problem quickly and efficiently. Unfortunately it cut short our visiting time with Dave and Kathy.
